Friday Morning Coffee Shop Road Ride - 8:00 a.m. (Road bikes only.)

Start date: First Friday in May. End date: Last Friday in November. The ride has been known to go off throughout the winter if conditions cooperate.
Meet at Gorham Bike & Ski, Portland.
A talking pace up to Yarmouth for a bite to eat and a drink. Then back to Portland. The pace on the way home can be more spirited. Just be aware.

Saturday Morning Road Ride Road Ride - 7:15a.m. sharp! The side door will be open at 7:00a.m. for the bathroom, water and air if needed. (Road bikes only.)

Start date: May 20th, 2023. End date: Last Saturday in November.
Meet at Gorham Bike & Ski, Portland.

This ride is a great alternative to other Saturday morning rides on the peninsula where the pace can get a little out of hand. Average group pace is 21-22 mph. The ride has a total mileage of 29.5 miles.

The route: The route for this ride heads down State Street from the Portland store, crosses the Casco Bay Bridge, goes up Antoine Street and on to Highland Avenue where it picks up the popular Cape Loop. See the route here on RideWithGPS.

Description: There are 4 sprint points on the ride. The first is to the crosswalk at the tennis courts on Black Point Road on Prouts Neck. After that sprint, the pace is neutral through the turnaround at the deadend and most of the way back up the Neck. The second sprint is at the fire hydrant at the top of the hill on Bowery Beach Road/Route 77 followed shortly after by a sprint to the first driveway at Inn by the Sea on Bowery Beach Road in Cape Elizabeth. The final sprint is  to the "hut" at the Birch Knolls in Cape Elizabeth. After the final sprint, the ride will pull into the parking lot after the Cookie Jar to catch a breath, tell war stories and wait a few minutes for some rider left behind. The group cannot wait for all riders to return to group. But we'll be there for 5 minutes or so. From there the group will ride back to the Portland store at a casual pace.
