Why Get Your Ski Gear from Gorham Bike and Ski

We get you on the right skis There are a lot of places you can go to buy nordic skis. But how do you know that you are getting the best ski for you. It's more than just checking your weight against a chart supplied by the manufacturer. Especially with race skis. Flex weights, camber heights, and intended snow conditions all make a difference as to which ski will work best for each customer. That's why we do everything we can to make sure that when you get on a pair of skis that you bought from us that its going to perform the way you want it to. We also flex all of our race and performance skis all the way down the lines to the entry level skis. Manufacturers, for the most part, only put narrower flex ranges on the highest-end skis. We don't think that is good enough. We use our state-of-the-art ski flex machine to better match skier to skis. And if you deal with us online and we ask you several questions, and even get on the phone to zero in on the right ski, you can be sure your new skis will give you years of pleasure from the first day you get them on the snow.

FREE Race Level Hotbox, binding mountin, and pole cutting All Race skis get our Race Level Hotbox treatment FREE when purchased. This is a time intensive waxing treatment that involves 3-4 hours of deep wax penetration. It's equivlalent to 25 handwaxings!

When you buy a pair of skis and bindings from us, new or closeout, we'll mount the bindings for free. We'll also prep your bases from free as well.

And when you get poles from us, we'll cut them to length for classic or skate if you like, for FREE.

And don't forget to take advantage of our stone grinding services for you new skis. Even new skis will perform better with a new grind. Read more about our Stone Grinding Services here.

The Best Value We may not be the lowest price on every product, but we are the best value. It's our service that make us the best deal anywhere. We want you to have the best purchase experience, and the best skiing experience. So we go the extra mile to ensure your satisfaction. From the moment we first make contact when you are shopping, through the time we carefully package your order, and hand it off to the UPS guy, we have only one goal, and that's to get you on the snow as soon as possible on the best pair of skis possible. And don't be shy about goiving us a call or shooting off an email to tell us how much you like 'em.

Meet the Staff

We are a pretty interesting mix of people at Gorham Bike and Ski. But the one thing we have in common - We love the outdoors, and living a healthy lifestyle. And we love turning other people on to these things.

Jamie Wright [Owner] Jamie opened Gorham Bike and Ski in 1995 just a mile from his home in Gorham, Maine. The store has moved to Portland since then, but the small town feel of the business remains the same. Jamie competes in many of the New England marathon ski events and is also an avid road and mountain bike cyclist.

Tim Corcoran [General Manager/ Nordic Tech] Tim has been wrapped up in endurance sports most of his life. Nordic skiing is a passion that runs deep for this Maine native and making customer skis as fast as possible is an art form for "TC". When you get your skis, chances are Tim has been over every millimeter of those bases and has prepped them for World Cup performance.

Dave Palese [Manager/Web Guru] Dave wears many hats. When you place an order online Dave will be the first guy to see it, and get the ball rolling. He'll more than likely be the one to email you or call you with follow-up questions to ensure you get exactly what you need, and want. Dave also works with masters and junior athletes to set-up training plans and workouts to improve their performances. So, don't be afraid to throw a few questions his way with regard to training.

Tim Blakely [Shop Guy] Tim, or "T2" as we like to call him (it helps eleviate any confusion), does it all. Tim makes sure that every customer gets what they need, and that everything gets done. Tim boxes and ships 99% of our online orders, and has developed a system of packaging product that ensures your new skis, boots, and poles arrive in perfect condition.

Fred Robie [Words Can Not Describe] Fred joined GBS after a very long stint with our friends at LLBean. There is no question that Fred keeps us on our toes. He is still getting used to the small shop environment, after his life in corporate america. But Fred's background setting people up with skis and outdoor gear is priceless.
