Full & Part Time Seasonal Sales Associates – Portland & Saco, Maine Location

Gorham Bike and Ski is currently searching for Full-Time and Part-Time Seasonal Sales Associates for our Portland & Saco, Maine locations. Do you have a passion for cycling and living a healthy active lifestyle? Do you have a positive, upbeat personality? Can you bring it with you to work every day? Position Details

  • Must have days, evenings and weekend availability.
  • We are hiring to fill positions in our Portland and Saco locations.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Clearly explain and demonstrate products to customers.
  • Utilize sales training to achieve a high level of personal sales.
  • Apply customer service skills to exceed customer's expectations.
  • Process sales, returns, and special orders.
  • Provide feedback to the Store Manager on ideas to increase sales.
  • Promote Gorham Bike and Ski mission, values, and standards.


Store Operations

  • Responsible for following all store policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the store is properly merchandised as planned and presents a clean and welcoming appearance.


Position Requirements

  • Prior bicycle or sporting goods sales or customer service experience in a fast-paced retail environment not required but is a plus.


Skills

  • Ability to communicate and interact with a diverse population.
  • Excellent sales skills and a strong customer service focus.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of computers and technology.
  • Dedication to get the job done.
  • Ability to team with co-workers to achieve common goals.


Working Conditions

  • Ability to be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques.

Full-Time Sales Associate/Bicycle Service Technician - Kennebunk, Maine location

Gorham Bike and Ski is currently searching for a Full-Time Sales Associate/Bicycle Service Technician for our Kennebunk, Maine location. Do you have experience working on bicycles? No? That's OK. We'll train you! But you have a passion for cycling and living a healthy active lifestyle, be detail oriented and have a positive, upbeat personality. And bring it with you to work every day.


Position Details

  • Requires performing sales and service tasks on a daily basis.
  • Must have days until 6pm and weekend availability.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Check-over and asses mechanical needs of customer bicycles.
  • Clearly explain the benefits of suggested services to customers.
  • Be able to suggest parts and accessories to customers based on customer goals.
  • Apply bicycle service skills and consistently exceed customer's expectations.
  • Clearly explain and demonstrate products to customers.
  • Utilize sales training to achieve a high level of personal sales.
  • Apply customer service skills to exceed customer's expectations.
  • Process sales, workorders, returns, and special orders using our POS system.

Mobile Bike Shop Operator and Service Technician - Portland, Maine

Are you looking for an adventure? Come along for the ride with Gorham Bike & Ski! We are looking for a flexible, nimble person who loves talking to people to operate our Mobile Bike Shop in the Portland, Maine area. This position requires a minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a professional bicycle service department, with excellent diagnostic and productive mechanical skills and will report to the Portland Service Manager. Strong sales and customer service skills are a must as well as the ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment. Winning candidates must be proficient in repairing new as well as older and vintage bicycles to the highest standard. This is not an entry-level position. We are seeking an experienced mechanic who can multi-task and handle a wide range of bike service and sales. Compensation will be based on experience with competitive pay and sales commissions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work directly with your customers and assess their service needs.
  • Assemble, inspect, repair, and complete overhauls of customers' bicycles from hybrids to high-end performance bikes.
  • Directly responsible for generating bike and accessory sales across all bicycling disciplines
  • Complete accurate online booking/inventory and prioritize work orders in an expedient manner
  • Serve as a professional knowledge resource to customers
  • Demonstrate a professional standard of customer service
  • Remain current on industry products and trends, and demonstrate knowledge of products
  • Receive shipments & restock inventory
  • Ensure mobile bike shop van is kept clean and tidy.
  • Represent Gorham Bike & Ski at local bike events


Required qualifications:

  • Clean driving record, current driver's license & comfortable driving larger vehicles
  • Able to lift 70 lbs.
  • Comfortable working remotely and interacting with customers
  • Pass background check
  • Demonstrate solid organizational and time management skills
  • Comfortable working with online booking and inventory/ordering system
  • Bike mechanic technical certification highly desired (UBI, Barnett, Shimano, US Cycling)
  • Ability to build all levels of bikes from the box to a safe, ride ready bike
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule; including nights, holidays and weekends
  • Able to fit customers to all types of bikes
